

Cheryl is the author of the author of three books (The Art of Handpainting Photographs” - considered the definitive book on this art form, “The Art of Photographing Children” and Photographing Children Naturally” and penned a popular column for The Southampton Press (27East), “Picture This.”Ĭheryl has been a professional member of the ASMP since 2013, is a Getty Contributor and a featured artist on Museo. As a fine art mentor, Cheryl has been applauded for her insights and guidance to those who seek to find their voice, create a body of work, master their camera, or manage their photo library.Īs a speaker Cheryl lectures on a wide range of topics including “Color Theory for Photographers,” “Finding Your Niche,” “Being an Artist,” and “Handpainting Photographs” (Photo Expo in New York, News12, TWiP, Guild Hall). In-person hands-on instruction workshops include Maine Media Workshops, Garden Club of America National Photo Workshops, Southampton Masters Workshops, and Cheryl Machat Dorskind Hamptons Workshops. Cheryl has also been teaching online since 2006 with four popular classes she authored (Exploring Color, Exploring Color 2, Painting Photos, and The Art of Self Portraiture). She has been teaching in the college classroom since 1994 and holds the rank of adjunct Full professor (LIU Post, Suffolk County, Southampton College) College courses taught include: digital photography, darkroom photography, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Interior Design Portfolio Assessment, BFA and MFA Thesis Mentoring/Independent study. Teaching remains an important vehicle in Cheryl’s mission to inspire and jump start photo careers.
